Win-Some Women's Retreat

On October 17th and 18th 2007, a mulitude of women met at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island for the Win-Some Christian Retreat.  Nine women from the White Pine area went to share with one another the joy and blessing of Jesus Christ in their lives and thus encourage one another in their faith and in their daily walk with Him.

Win-Some Women is a fellowship of inter-denominational women drawn together by their common desire to share the reality of Jesus Christ.  It serves women from all over Michigan, several other states and Canada.

The Win-Some Women Retreats had their origin in 1971 with a neighborhood bible study, and has grown through the years until it now ministers to nearly 6,000 women each year at the Grand Hotel, with three spring and three fall retreats.

Bishop's Day

on

Evangelism and Stewardship

Bishop's Day on Evangelism and Stewardship was held at Gladstone Memorial UMC on September 29, 2007.  Members attending from White Pine UMC were Pastor Rosemary DeHut, Jane Dickow, Jeni Varecha, Judy Petty and Ella Singer.

Bishop Jonathon Keaton gave an inspirational talk, and District Superintendent Reverend Grant Lobb preached on "One Generation Away".  There was, of course, ample time for worship and communion.  A nice lunch was provided.

There were  dozen workshops given by various leaders from across the Upper Peninsula.  Reverend Rosemary DeHut, from White Pine UMC, with assistance from kid's club volunteers, presented a workshop on "Christian Kid's Club".  The Christian Kid's Club has been quite successful in White Pine, attracting many unchurched children.  The program is geared to an age group from kindergarten to 6th grade.

People attending Bishop's Day left for home spiritually nourished with many new ideas for improving communication within their home congregations.
